Quick Shot is Underrated
I've played as a ranger for a very long time, trying out builds from Guildwiki's untested section. Once I got to the ring of fire island chain, i found a cap group that was capping the entire island, and I went with them.
I had already captured Crippling Shot. So I waited for another cap to surface. When finally I found a ranger boss named Maxime Coldstone. Her cap seemed bad, but i capped it anyway, then put it on a PvP ranger to do Random Arenas with.
I found myself attacking faster than swords, axes, and pretty much anything else. With one attack that hit faster than normal every single second, I had a very large dps when combined with my Vampiric PvP Hornbow of Fortitude.
Our team was unstoppable until finally we hit a very experianced and balanced Team Arenas team, their mesmer was using Diversion on my Quick Shot, all I had was my other bow attack, Marauder's Shot. Eventually they whittled us down.
Whenever I mention this build I get "QS is a joke" or "QS SUCKS NOOB"<--- The typical noob response.
I OWNED every one of my friends in scrimmages with this build. They all succeeded with the build I told them about too. Quick Shot is not at all a bad elite. With a Vamp Hornbow max damage you have the highest sustainable DPS a ranger has.

Or with Read the Wind and Favourable Winds, a bit less damage but your arrows are never gonna miss and are pressuring so well!

I know, I feel the same way as you. I considered various possibilities before; RtW + FW, using Quick Shot gives you an arrow that flies 8 times faster constantly, and does +16 damage. All you need is to spam QS and you'll definately irritate your victim. Another pressurizing tactic would be to probably use Apply Poison and spam all targets with poison, or keep aiming someone with QS so the poison is always there. Maybe I should switch from my spike build to a QS build at least during pve for try outs.
Quick Shot is definately a great skill.

Yay. I was expecting the standard noob response all around, "QS SUCKS NOOB" but im actually getting support. QS is a way better skill than everyone thinks it is. I'm getting exp players so far.
*waits for the rush of noobs to invade the topic*

I like using Dual Shot, Quick Shot, then Savage Shot, for 3 rapidly fired shots (well, 4 considering Dual Shot).
Works nice with extra dmg from Favorable Winds, Kindle Arrows, Conjure Flame, and a vampiric bow.

Quick shot allows you to create a lot of pressure with a bow ranger. Honestly that job is better handled by warriors.
Cripple shot + apply poison is always going to be king for a number of reasons. you get to snare the wars target and instantly covered by poison. Spread poison throughout an entire team for more added pressure.
Crip shot rangers also carry blackout.
Quick shot is good in TA/RA because you only need to take a lot of pressure and not utility in those environments. GvG/HA you will see other types of rangers being ran.

Um... Cripshot Rangers are extremely common in high ranked GvG. Quick Shot is effectively the best DPS skill a Ranger has. Most of the time however, Rangers aren't called upon for DPS, so Warriors take the place of this build. It's not popluar, but it is extremely effective, able to take down monks and casters with great ease and rangers and warriors as well.

Well this is an untested build on the wiki.
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/R/any_Quick_Needler
I've run this build in HOH and RA only I switch with a vamp mod because 2 energy even for this rapid build is not that bad. Other varities was that my friend changed to a reclusive bow and then used apply posion. Ive always filled the optional slot with pin down to avoid getting raped by touchers and warriors. From what I've seen, an all around powerful build but the lack of self heal and weakness to Mesmers leads me to run other builds, yet I can see this becomming a new type of spike, with some modifications for team play ofcourse.

Oh yes. You could fire almost as fast as you could click. My fiance would complain because all she could hear was clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick while she was trying to sleep.

Monks, I don't think so. Nothing takes a monk, elementalist or assasin down faster than my spike combo. I went to test out the needler build yesterday, and I found this build was the most anti-warrior I ever got. I actually managed to kill running warriors with Dual -> QS -> QS -> QS -> Needle all the way. Needling Shot does a constant 31 damage every shot and recharges instantly if you're hunting down a dying warrior.
When faced with touchers or boon prots, the problem is much harder though.
Despite QS being a fantastic elite, I enjoy Punishing Shot for the quickness of unleashing as well as the added interrupt.

Ya, you need support in most cases to take down a Boon Prot, and you really really need a snare for a touch ranger, not something you normally take on a QS build.

I don't play PvP so is it primarily only good for PvP or does it work great in PvE as well? I haven't capped this skill yet.
